Furry Felines: Guardians of Grace and Cuddles

Furry Felines: Guardians of Grace and Cuddles

Do we own pets or do our pets own us? Naturally, humans take on the responsibility to provide for our little pets. But as a cat parent, I can confirm that my cats own me. My little cats have complete control over my whole family. So, my journey as a cat parent started exactly 7 months ago. At that time my family was looking for a pet for companionship. Then I suggested why not adopt a kitten; we immediately adopted the cutest kitten ever. Her eyes were something between green, brown, and golden which can even change its color with lightning and surroundings. Her glowing eyes instantly drew me in from the very first day. So I named her HAZEL after her mesmerizing eyes.  Now my whole family adores HAZEL a lot. Especially my mother; she takes care of HAZEL as her baby, even we took HAZEL  with us in our village. The journey was a little bit frustrating for her as she was just a baby but the love she received from everyone I can bet HAZEL  forgot everything right after landing. Everyone from my village loved her like their own because of her charming behavior and fed her every other second which she enjoyed the most. After coming back home we vaccinated and spayed her as this is essential for a healthy life. Before spaying she was somewhat shy but after that, she formed a strong connection with me and bonded very well with us. From then Hazel always sleeps with us and eats with us. But this cute little kitten can be a mischievous monster too. She often bites us softly or pulls our hair as a way of expressing love and playing with us. One of her favorite activities is making biscuits on me.  Well, "Making biscuits" is a cute term that refers to the kneading motion with a cat’s paws. It looks and feels like they're kneading dough, hence the term "making biscuits." That's one of the ways to show her love for us.

Here comes our second cat baby named ELSA. She looks like a white fairy; hence, I named her after the “FROZEN” movie character “ELSA”. She is a white Persian cat. When we first adopted ELSA, her condition was horrible. She was so scared of us and HAZEL, later we got to know that ELSA was lonely with her previous owner. But now with our proper love, care, and pampering ELSA’s character and behavior completely developed eventually. She’s no longer scared of us and more surprisingly ELSA started to eat chicken and fish. This is a great achievement for us because she used to avoid all these healthy foods in favor of cat food. Now, Elsa and Hazel have become friends; They spend their entire day playing together. But sometimes, Hazel wants to hamper Elsa's personal space which Elsa doesn't like.

Well, when I mentioned my cats own me I didn’t exaggerate so let these fur babies choose us. Rather than buying pets, we all should give a shot to these stray cats who are badly in need of a loving and caring home for the better life they all deserve. Sometimes HAZEL and ELSA demand food, and attention and keep rubbing their heads with our bodies to get some treats. HAZEL is much younger than ELSA still she’s so disciplined than ELSA. HAZEL always uses her litter box and whenever her box is full she lets us know by meowing gently. On the other hand, I'm still potty-training ELSA, she continues to pee around the house, which is quite frustrating for the other members of my household. And bathing them together is a nightmare for both me and them. Otherwise, life with these fur babies is pretty amazing. Our neighbors and friends keep visiting us for HAZEL and ELSA and bring treats for them. So, adopting them was the best decision in my life till now. Whenever I’m having a bad day or mental breakdown they understand the situation instantly and come forward to support me mentally which actually helps a lot to overcome the situation. Nowadays, I  spend a hefty portion of my salary on them which I’m not even complaining about. I cannot explain my love for them, I can do everything for HAZEL and ELSA just for the 2 minutes of cuddling session they allow me to. Before putting a full stop, all I can say is depressed people should adopt a cat to brighten their day and improve their mental health. The touch of their paws, and whiskers and the sound of their purrs can definitely change someone's mood in no time. As a cat parent, I can assure that spending time and money for one’s furry feline is totally worth it. As Charles Dickens said, "What greater gift than the love of a cat?" I completely relate to this.
