Fall Of A Monster: Dictator Hasina    On July 36th, 2024, Bangladesh is facing a new dawn. After a sleepless night, at one point, the morning sun rose. Today's sun seems to be spreading a deeper crimson glow than on other days. With unwavering faith in the Creator, breaking the curfew and after a final embrace from their parents, millions of young people are already taking position at the entry points of Dhaka. In their eyes and faces, there is only the vow to avenge the killing of their brothers, the pledge to free Bangladesh from vultures. It’s not just the youth who are strengthened by this vow; people of all ages, from children to the elderly, have joined this cause. On their heads, they bear the flag of the nation—the very flag for which thousands of mothers have returned their children to the Creator. As it is 7:30 in the morning, law enforcement launches a sudden attack on the Shahid Minar. Simultaneously, attacks are being carried out in Shah...

Fork in the road. (Fardin Shadab Dhrubo - 24301472 - 53)

Introduction For the past few years I have been thinking about a question that most people can easily answer because of it's nature but it does have something deeper to it. The question is how much autonomy we have over our actions. If I ask this question to a random person the most common answer is that we have complete autonomy over our actions because that is common sense. But is the decision that we make in a certain situation actually a decision or something that was unavoidable. Is it just an illusion that we have choices?  Analysis Let's try to think of how we make choices first. The definition of a choice is the act of choosing between one or more possibilities. How do we make the final decision of choosing one possibility over the other? There's two answers to this question it's either that the choice was completely random or it was based on previous personal experiences and data that we have (cause and effect). The previous personal experiences shape our prefe...

Diving into the world of 'Kafkaesque'. (Tashrif Newaz - 24301460 - 53)

Franz Kafka 'Kafkaesque', the literary art of portraying the relationship between systems of arbitrary power and working-class individuals stuck in them, named after popular German language novelist Franz Kafka. In general, the novels of Franz Kafka depicted the struggle of navigating through bureaucracy and captured the anxiety and confusion going through the heads of such individuals. But Kafka's vision went far and beyond.  The Origin Throughout Kafka's life, he was always a victim of oppressive bureaucracy and administration. Kafka was born in Prague in 1883. His father, Herman, rose from working-class to higher middle class society through sheer will power and hard work. Being the brash and aggressive man he is, he ...

Whiskers of Comfort: The Curious Cat Who Stole My Heart (Nabila Reza_24301523_Section-53)

One morning in August 2020, I woke up, finding myself surrounded by various thoughts. The agony of being cooped up in my house for so long crept into my mind and filled me with a sense of isolation. Nothing seemed to feel the same. No one had anticipated such an unusual occurrence as the COVID lockdown. As I was wondering about the recent changes in my life, suddenly a thought crossed my mind: What if I adopt a cat? My family always likes keeping pets around. But after the death of my cat Brownie at the age of 8, we did not adopt any. That is why, adopting a cat felt like a spectacular idea. However, at a time like the COVID pandemic, adopting a feline could have a life-threatening impact, as these furry friends might be adorable, but they are still prone to COVID-19. Ultimately, after thinking about giving up the idea altogether, one of my mom’s colleagues showed interest in giving me a kitten, as she knew how much I loved cats. Then came the most anticipated day when me and my ...

A loop of time in which I want to get myself entangled for ever

If someone asks me about one experience I would cherish for life, I would say about a football match I played almost 2 years ago with my school friends. I have played countless numbers of football matches but this particular day has a special space in my heart as that match was played on the last day of our college life. That play was special in the sense that, that was the only play in my life I played not to win but to enjoy with my friends to the fullest. Somewhere I knew that after passing college all of us would find it difficult to gather together as everyone would become busy with their varsity life. To enjoy the last football match of our college life, we booked a ground for that day. Usually, we book the slot for one and a half hours. But that day we booked it for three hours. We were a group of fifteen friends. After reaching the ground we decided to play a tournament between three teams where each team will consist of five players. I along with my two other friends w...

Revving a Rocket Ship

Revving a rocket ship . Alright, I got to talk about this… what is something that you are obsessed with besides your career? It could be rap, it could be breakdancing, it could be fantasy football, or just any sport ever. For me it is F1, I was aware of the sport before but didn’t pay much attention but one day scrolling through the channel I crossed into one of the qualifying sessions that take place before the race. I was astonished by the fact that drivers were getting disqualified by the hundredths, sometimes thousandths of a second. To give you a little more context: I have always had a fascination with exotic and supercars (they are premium fast cars). Especially, when I was young, I have always appreciated the looks of Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc. As I grew older, I started to appreciate the cars for their performance. My interest in cars evolved fro...
