From Forgotten Legends to Modern Treasures – Coins That Embody the Aeternum of History and the Valor of Now.(Ahnaf Ashique Adi_24101165_Sec53)

What’s the one thing that captures your imagination and makes time stand still? What’s that unique fascination that pulls you in deeper every time? And how does it make you see the world differently?

From a young age I actually liked history as I always heard interesting stories of the past. This got me thinking what can I do to know more? Then one day I found an old coin from my grandfather.

I was intrigued and first tried to see if the coin was one of the old coins of Bangladesh. But the design and color was far different from that. Then I found it was a coin from UK.

That coin when I held it after knowing its origins made me feel like I held a piece of history. That thrill made me start to collect foreign coins and notes. For me, it's not just about the money. Each coin or note has a story to tell, whether it's about the culture, history, or even the art of the country it comes from.

Some of you guys may ask why collect foreign coins and notes?  Why do you ask?

Because it shows the uniqueness of a country. Like when I see the coins with intricate designs of   historical figures, national symbols, or even animals I always get lost in their culture.

On the other hand, it helps me connect with the past and every new addition to my collection is like adding a new chapter to a never-ending story. Until now all my coins combined has cross almost 3 kilograms in weight, so it's funny how one can get lost when one has fun.

Not only the coins but also the banknotes are different having vibrant colors and different artworks which shows the difference in culture and history.

Each banknote is a piece of art that holds a deeper significance. When I hold them, I feel like holding a piece of that country’s heritage, making every note in the collection a tangible connection to different times and places.

I actually think besides their aesthetic appeal, the banknotes reflect the economic and political journeys of their countries. Some feature bold, modern designs representing progress, while others are more traditional, showcasing ancient symbols and historical milestones. The variation in sizes, textures, and even the materials used further emphasize the uniqueness of each note. Collecting them isn’t just my unique fascination it’s like piecing together a big puzzle, where each banknote and coin adds another layer to the story of the world’s evolving civilizations. For me it's a constant reminder of how interconnected yet different our cultures truly are.

I have some Japanese yen that I collected in 2014.It was from 1989 after the World War 2.

So I looked around a bit then I found about the design of the coin actually shows the Phoenix Hall of By Byōdō-in.This hall represents a Buddhist temple in Uji, Kyoto. The Phoenix Hall is a symbol of peace, renewal, and rebirth, with its graceful architecture designed to resemble a phoenix in flight. It’s fascinating how such intricate details can be captured on something as small as a coin. The way it reflects Japan’s deep connection to its spiritual heritage and architectural brilliance adds another layer of meaning to my collection. It’s moments like these that make collecting coins so rewarding—it’s not just about the currency but the stories and symbols they carry from across the world.

Other than that, I have a lot of coins of USA, UK, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, China, India, Malaysia and many more.

Each one coin is like a small piece of history, representing the culture and heritage of its country. Some of them commemorate special events or feature iconic landmarks, while others depict important figures. It's amazing how much a single coin can tell you about the story of a nation!

Except coins I also do collect Foreign currencies. All this experience trying to collect coins from local markets , online helped me learn that that coin collecting is not just about monetary value but the fun in learning the story behind the coins and the currencies.

From my personal experience if any one actually wants to try collecting coin and currencies, I recommend them to visit the local markets first, try to talk to some collectors and do a little bit of research. Never try to spend a lot at first.

I want to end my blog saying this that coin collecting offers endless discovery. So, why not try to make your own collection and see where it takes you?
